This is a hard one but anyhow---My ggrandmother was Nelly (Ellen?) Ford I believe from Kilmacduagh area.  She could have been born anywhere from 1820's to the 1840's?  Just a guess as her grandson Peter was born in 1872.  She married a Fergus Mullins who lived in the Gort area.  Thanks for any information!

  • Thank you Sister, thank you all for your help.  Catherine and Fergus must have had about 200 descendents--as I look at Father Charlie's family tree--spread from Ireland to the US.  Amazing!

  • Hello Sister de Lourdes..  This is Patricia Quinn  whom you have been helping to find information on Michael O'Shaughnessy and Margaret Galvin.  I have just realised that you may be able to help me find information on my GG uncle Patrick Hallinan.  He was born in 1813 in Kilmacdaugh.  He studied at Maynooth and after matriculating in 1837, took " minor orders" .  The next we hear about him is that he has travelled to Australia  with Bishop  Polding and 7 others to Sydney on the ship " Templar".   He was ordained in Sydney and then spent his time as Parish Priest of Windsor  for around 25years and was then made the first  Dean of Theology in Australia.

I have emailed Maynooth  to see if I could find information from  there but they were unable to help.  I have sent the information to the Diocese of Galway, but as yet have not received a response.

We will definitely come to see you while we are in Ireland.   We are on our way now.....just about to leave Dubai.

Hoping you might be able to find information on his family.

    Patricia Quinn
