I am the parish liaison person,thanks for making contact .Could I ask you if you have traced many of your ancestors already?

I know Thomas and Honor had several children.Margaret 1856 just after the worst of the Famine ,William 03/June 1858 ,Ellen 10/April 1861,  Bridget 28 January 1863 and Edward 21/11/1865.

There may be more.

The Census of 1901 shows William and his wife Bridget and another Bridget (his sister)  living with his mother (Nora = Honoria) and there is a nephew Mat Quinn.That land is owned by Quinn's now.So there may be a link through the Mat Quinn.William ,who looks to have inherited the land as the eldest boy, had no children.(census 1911)

Regarding Bridget his sister.

In the Census of 1901, her age is given as 29.I could not find any record from the 1870s of her birth or baptism at the catholic parish register only the record from 1863 , that would make her 37 or 38.

There are Hartes in the parish that may be related as well.

You might have come across William's role in the flight of Liam Mellows through Kilbeacanty in the aftermath of the 1916 rebellion.

Thank you, Anne! Yes, I have found all the information you have, including William's role post 1916 and Matt Quinn was mentioned in that account as well. Ellen's son if I recall. She remarried to a Forde. I also found online an interview with an Anne Walsh perhaps 20-25 years ago, who was a musician and daughter of Edward and had lived in Inchaboy. Edward was the one who accompanied Nora, the youngest sister (my grandmother) to NY. Later he brought sister Bridget as well. But returned to Ireland to marry and have a family. Would like to learn who the parents of Honor Harte were. There was a Patrick living next door to the Blanches in Griffith's, but whether this was her father or a brother I don't know.

I see  in the census that  Ellen Forde was born in Clare.You say she was married to Quinn before that, do you have details on that?

Thomas Blanch and Honor Harte's children:

Margaret m Ned Burke, many children in 1911 census, St Georges St, Gort

William, m Bridget, no children

Ellen, m 1. a Quinn (two sons, Matt and Ned) m 2. Patrick Forde

Bridget b 28 Jan 1863, came to NYC in 1906, unmarried, live-in domestic in NYC 1910 census, no further info.

Edward, m. Maria Loughnane, had children John T., Bridget (married 1946), William, and Mary Ellen Blanch (she was b 1918 m. Willie Walsh in 1952, lived Co Clare)

Anne, born 22 April 1869 in Gort, no further info

Kate, b 1871 d 1918 in Gort

Nora, 1876-1929. came to NYC, m James Muldoon of Ballaghaderreen. 4 children born in NYC - Thomas, James (my father), Edward and Mary. James Sr. was a railroad engineer. Thomas had one son who died in WW2. Edward and Mary had no children. My father had 3 daughters.

I have spoken to one of the Quinn family that I believe is your second cousin.I have also spoken to descendents of Pat Harte who now own the land in Drumminalough.People have a strong belief that they are related to  Nora Harte but I am looking for evidence at the moment.I need to follow up with them again.I have a good bit of information on the Burkes (Ned Ellen Blanche).I will get back to you on that again.

One of Edward's children Mary (Ellen) died just before Christmas in Clare could she be the Anne Walsh the musician that you mentioned?

She was married to a Walsh and lived in Clare.I attach a death notice link and paste the main information

Cragroe, Tulla, Clare / Gort, Galway

Mary (Ellen) Walsh (nee Blanche) Cragroe, Tulla, Co.Clare and formerly of Inchaboy, Gort, peacefully at Raheen Nursing Home, Tuamgraney, on Wednesday 27th December, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband William, son Willie and son in law Dónal. Deeply regretted by her children Pat Walshe, Brid O’Sullivan, Mary Mulhern, Dermot Walshe, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Reposing at the Immaculate Conception Church, Drumcharely, Tulla, Co.Clare from 6-8pm on Friday December 29th. Funeral Mass at Drumcharley on Saturday morning December 30th at 12 noon followed by burial in Tulla Cemetery.

Donations to Raheen Community Hospital. Mary’s family would like to express their thanks for the excellent and dedicated care which she received while residing in Raheen.
