We do not know where in Ireland that Dave's great grfa Roger Murphy came from, however this is the same exact place his wife Nancy Anne "Annie" LARKIN was from! Roger Murphy was born ca 1808-10 Ireland, died 1896 Chicago, Cook, IL, so we are hoping he was of the same place. They sailed out of Liverpool in June 1853 for NYC, with six Murphy children; Owen b 1841, Sarah Ann b 1845, Patrick Larkin b 1846, Michael Aloysius b 1848, Martin b 1851, William Joseph b 1852, Catherine E b 1855, Sabina "Alice" b 1858, John Larkin b 1861, & Anne Ida b 1864, the last 4 born in USA.

I found a Thomas Murphy living in Headford Townland, Killursa Parish in Griffith's Valuation ca 1851. We would love to make contact with family members for our next trip to Ireland.

The only birth/baptism records of Roger Murphy on www.rootsireland.ie/ are 1798 Armagh and 1820 Waterford; none in Galway or 1808-10 I'm afraid.

I appreciate your looking up that info for me, he has been very elusive for years. I have often wondered if he had another name in Ireland such as Patrick Murphy, as I have looked for many years trying to find him... :) Thanks, Helen
PS: He named sons, Owen, Patrick, Michael, Martin, William, John & a baby son Peter who died early.
