hi,

i'm looking for info on wolfe's of cork. my family believed their grandfather was from skibbereen (they used to visit there when they were small, as well as wicklow on school holidays). as my grandfather was born in london & records are easy to reserch, it turns out it was my grandfathers grandfather was the one who came from cork, to my aunts & uncles surprise!

so my great great grandfather was william wolfe born 1834c, on the census records its mainly cork as place of birth, & on an earlier census record kilman (possible a spelling mistake for kilmeen?). it looks as though he came over with his partner (rebecca hornibrook born 1833c, kilman/kilmeen cork). as they married in 1853 in london. william's wolfe's father was thomas wolfe from cork also. i don't think he moved over to london with william as i don't find any census records to link them in london together. i have no year of birth for thomas wolfe. as far as i know they were probably roman catholic as my grandfather was. i have found a couple of records for thomas wolfe anf william wolfe (seperate records), but they have been claimed by other reserching their family trees in america as as mine were in london they can't be the same?? therefore my relitives don't exsist?! the skibbereen heritage centre looked into the roman catholic records for me & didn't find any information for, so maybe i'm looking in the wrong place? i found a william wolfe on the prison records for cork city goul with the same year of birth, but not sure .if its the one i'm looking for.
