Visited Kinvara - both of them - in 2005 but had no luck finding church records for my Treacy family. Did see a Treacy family in new cemetery. My Gt Grandfather, as above, had a sister Mary bc 1839 (on night of Big Wind according to family lore ie 6 Jan 1839. Not sure of this as I see that people claiming pension when it first started could be eligible if they remembered this event!) Their father was called Michael but I have no knowledge of the mother's name. The mother and children moved to Thurles, Tipperary but no record of the father also going. Did he die or emigrate. The 1830s record of parishioners does not include this family. There is a notion that the mother spoke Irish. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello again!
Here is a link to the parish register for Kinvara http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0632 You will note that there is a gap in baptismal records from May 1837 to June 1843 which appears to cover the alleged dates for Michael and Mary.
The only record I could find which might be a lead is an 1833 record for a Martin Tressy.

Thank you once again for your reply Roger. I think this could be a possibility to look at. Martin is not a name that has come down in the family. Thomas and Michael are the ones I know of and there was a Patrick but I think that was on the other side of my granddad's family. Michael was an important name as it was given to two babies (first one having died young).
