Ferdinand Joyce is my 2nd great grandfather. He was born about 1823 in Ireland. He was a carpenter and immigrated to Pennsylvania before 1860. He married Mary Reynolds (I don't know if it was in Ireland or the US) and they had 4 daughters, all born in Pennsylvania: Bridget, Josephine, Margaret and Anna.
I could find no information about where he came from in Ireland in the US records.
I recently found a "Ferdinand Joyce" in the Griffiths Valuation
County of Galway, Barony of Loughrea, Union of Gort, Parish of Ardrahan. His landlord was James Daly. (www.askaboutireleand.ie).
I also found the same Ferdinand Joyce as father of the groom; Patrick Joyce married to Nappy Ryan in Loughrea, Co. Galway in 1868. (familysearch.org/pal:MM9.1.1/FGZV-TqY). Because of the date of 1868 this is not the same Ferdinand Joyce as my ancestor because by that time my Ferdinand was already in Pennsylvania. It could however, be his father or an uncle.
Does anyone know anything about Ferdinand Joyce or his family. It is an unusual given name so I am hopefuly that they are related. Thanks so much.

My gggrandmother was Margaret Joyce, who was married to a Michael Considine b 1825 in Ardeamush, Lisdoonvarna, Ennis area - county Clare. She was born in Galway in 1821 and died in 1914. Could there be a connection here. I know nothing else about her.

I have been able to trace more of my family related to Ferdinand Joyce and I don't see any one named Margaret. Here is what I do know,
My Joyce ancestors were tenent farmers of James Daly and they lived in Boleyneedorrish (there is no town there anymore). I found Terrence Joyce in the Tithe Applotment Books of 1826. The next Joyce, in Griffiths Valuation was Ferdinand Joyce, also living in Boleyneedorrish. He had 3 sons that I know of, Ferdinand, my gggrandfather, born around1827. He emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1847. Peter, and Patrick were his two other sons. They stayed in Ireland in the Loughrea area.
Peter married Catherine Mulhern and they had one child that I know of, also names Ferdinand and called Ferdy.
Patrick married Nappy Ryan. They had at least 6 children (Mary, Fergus, Katie, James, John and Peter).
