Looking for any information on the parents of Michael Walsh, born 18 May 1860, baptised 26 May 1860 in Clonfert parish, Gurteen. His parents were John Walsh and Elise Mc Donough.
Thank you,

Hi John,
Thank you very much for your message to Ireland Reaching Out.
Could you please post your message on the parish profile page for Gurteen here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/ballymacward-gurteen-galway
You could try checking the land records called Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for more information about John Walsh and Elise McDonough. This is available free online.
There are also some fragments of the 1851 census which still survive for Loughrea. These are available at the National Archives of Ireland M150.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney

Hi John,
as there are Walsh living in the parish of Kiltullagh/Killimordaly (about 8/10 kms from Loughrea) I stopped and read through your post...then I went looking through a few books i have...
as I google "Gurteen Galway" just to confirm what i was thinking...there is a Gurteen just north of our parish...and a townland just north of that is Clonkeenkerril.
there is a book called "The memorial Inscriptions & Related History of Kiltullagh, Killimordaly & Esker Graveyards" edited by Con Mulvey and in there "the following us a composite index of deaths/burial records as abstracted from the church death registers and the caretakers registers..."
There are some 64 Walsh listed alot with 19 of those direcly mentioning Cloonkeenkerril...with slight variation in spelling.
1 has Gurteen as Address. A Bridget Walsh Date of Death/Burial28/10/1929 aged 20
John Walsh Cloonkeencyril date of death/burial 29/06/1936 aged 75
John Walsh Cloonkeenkirill date of death/burial 11/04/1957 aged 89
Michael Walsh Cloonkeen date of death/burial 07/07/1934 aged 75
and many many more
There are 25 Walsh showing up in Kiltullagh on the 1901 Census...
I'm afriad I cant put a finger on a Elise Walsh (Mc Donough) as yet

Sineads advice is spot on, Gurteen is quite close to Ballymacward and you should also post there for information
