Hi I am looking for my Husbands Irish roots.

David William Conniss dob 1857 died 1894  ( my Husbands grt Grandfather )

married Bridget Gavin (no date of marriage or where married ).

Their children Edward Albert Johnston Conniss (Husbands Grandfather )

                         James Conniss

                         David Conniss

                         Mary Ann Conniss

Can all be found in the 1901 census living with stepfather Martin Cannon no mention of their Mother Bridget and surname spelt Connis on census . All the children but Mary moved to England via Scotland after serving in the armed forces during ww1  .

I have not been able to find David`s parents or siblings I am not sure where David was born and lived but he was burried in Oughterard .His occupation was Master Shoemaker .

Edward A J birth was recorded in the RC Parish of Carraroe not sure where this is or if it is of any help ..

Any information about David would be greatfully accepted I am stuck with him .

Regards Lynda

  • Dear Lynda,

I would be very hopeful we'll be able to answer this query for you sometime soon. The project is expanding rapidly out of South-East Galway nationwide - but we hope to have Connemara - West Galway up and running - and indeed the full county of Galway, in the next 12 months. The information you need is not too far back - should definitely be traceable.  Thanks for connecting!

    Best Wishes.
