James William Carr and Mary Walsh were from Co. Galway and were married about 1830. James was born about 1797 and Mary about 1815. They had 8 children that I'm aware of. Thomas (b 1831), William (b 1833), Mark (b 1836), John (b 1840), Michael (b 1841), Bridget (b 1844), Mary (b 1845) and Catherine (b 1847). The family emigrated to Canada in the 1850's.
I don't know which parish they were from in Co. Galway. Most of the information I have on the family now is from Canadian census, marriage and death records which don't give any more detail other than Galway, Ireland. I'm interested in finding out more about James Carr and Mary Walsh and their family in Ireland. I will be in the Galway city in July although my time there will be relatively short. Is there somewhere in Galway I can go to try and find out what parish they may have been from?

Have you tried the Woodford Hertiage Centre in Woodford Galway phone number 0909749309 can be very helpful this is in South Galway so am not too sure how much of the county they cover their email is
