Hi I am researching Martin Fleming.  He was born circa 1806.  He died in 1878 at Cloosascreagh, Moylough.  he is listed in Grifffith's for 1855 in Cottage, Killererin.  He is also listed in a English census in 1861 in Tyldesley, Lancashire.. This is an areathat the family travelled to and from.  There are currently Flemings in the area that are descendant's of Martin.  One extract for the 1851 census looks like his wife was Bridget Flynn or Fahy.  I know that his children were Peter, Thomas, Patrick, John and Honor.  Peter's son Dan Lived in Brockagh, Carrowrevagh. (cortoon Brownsgrove)  This is as far as I have gotten.  Thanks for any clues.

  • Hi Jack

    There are 4 Martin Fleming birth/baptism records 1806 + - 5 years on www.rootsireland.ie/(subscription site) 1803 & 1810 Kilkenny 1808 in Tipperary & 1808 Waterford

    I couldn't find a marriage record.

The children on the census are different form those you have. It also says they were born in Ireland but I couldn't find any of their birth records.

On ancestry there are 5 public member trees which have Martin's birth year as 1799 because on the 1851 census he was aged 52. Another look on rootsireland found 3 records for 1800 + - 5 years: 1795 Dublin 1798 Kilkenny & 1803 Kilkenny.

www.irishgenealogy.ie/ is a free site which has Dublin, Kerry & Cork records. There is an 1838 marriage of Martin Fleming to Bridget Carmody in 1838 in Kerry. There is also a Thomas Fleming born 1833 Dublin with father Martin but mother is Ann Dempsey.
