I have been tracing my wife's Irish roots for quite some time.  At first we thought her 3rd Great-Grandfather, Michael Mogan (b. abt 1831), came from Tiranascragh or Killimor in the Clonfert Diocese.

Recent research indicates the Mogan family was actually from the Oranmore Parish, specifically Carrowmoneash.  Michael emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1850's.  A younger brother, Thomas, left Ireland for the U.S. about 1868.

Our family is in the midst of a long-planned trip to Scotland and Ireland.  The Ireland portion of the trip originally included a stop in the Clonfert Diocese based on the aforementioned misinformation.

Now we have retooled our itinerary and will head to County Galway next Monday and Tuesday, 26 & 27 June, 2017.

Is there still a church building (or ruins) in the Oranmore Parish from the era 1830-1855?  If so, my wife & I would dearly love to visit the site.  Any information, insights or additional history would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
