My gggrandfather Edward Walsh was born in 1826 in Castleisland to Thomas Wash and Ellen Daly. He died in Washington D. C., USA in 1880 having moved there in 1847. His father's brothers were John Walsh and Edmund Walsh both of whom who died in Castleisland. Edmund's son Patrick Edward Walsh immigrated to Washington D. C. as a very young boy where he married Ellen Fitzgerald. Thomas, Edmund and John's father was John Walsh who died in Castleisland and he was the son of Richard Walsh of Limerick. Does anyone have any information about this family? It would be most appreciated.

  • Good evening Mr. Walsh:

I came across your request and didn't know if I could help....my grandfather was John T. Daly who came from Ballymacpierce, Castleisland, Kerry.   Like you, I have been searching for my family's roots in Ireland.  In the process, I went through a lot of records on Ancestry.com looking for his family.  I copied out lots of different family combinations.   Although I did find that he had an aunt Ellen, she was married to an O'Brien.

In my pile of lists, I did run across the following siblings all with the same parents (Thomas Walsh and Ellen Daly)

        Edward Walsh  b. 23 Feb 1826

        Catherine Walsh b. 4 Nov 1827

        Ellen Walsh b. 8 Jan 1830

        Margaret Walsh b. 2 April 1832

I also found the following listing but the parents were Thomas Walsh and Ellen Walsh.  I don't know if her married name was listed and not her maiden name.

        Michael Walsh b. 11 April 1824

As I said, these are all from Ancestry.Com.  Ireland, Births and Baptisms 1620 - 1911.

I don't know if this is your family or not but you might want to check these records.

  • I believe that my Great Great Grandfather was born in Castleisland. His naturalizaton paper list 'Castle I...' I can not make out the last word. It definitely starts with an "I". I know of no other town in Kerry; besides Castletown that starts with the name Castle. He was born on the 24 of June 1848 and was married to Julia Sullivan. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1865. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

  • My ggggrandfather was Patrick Edward Walsh born 1839 in Castleisland and died 1872 in Washington DC. His father is Edmund Walsh born 1800 died 1847 Castleisland. His father John R Walsh. Born 1766 Limerick died 1844 Castleisland. My sister has input a lot of info on Ancestry.com. I am trying to connect to this info to learn more. Do you live in Ireland?
