I just found thru DNA testing that my relatives came from Kerry, possibly CastleIsland or Knocknagashel areas.

I am looking for information on Jeremiah Horan, born May/June 1828 in CastleIsland.  I believe he left for the United States approx 1848.  Any information on parents, siblings would be tremendous....

any help would be appreciated

You may want to go to www.irishgenealogy.ie  They have some Co. Kerry baptismal and marriage records. I know they have records for Castleisland. I did not see a Jeremiah Horan in 1828 but did locate a Jeremiah in 1824 Killeentierna. You may want to take a more detailed look at the site. Good Luck!

  • I just looked there..  It might possibly be Dermot Horan.  I have read that Jeremiah is an anglicized version of Dermot.   I found a record there for a Dermot.   I was hoping that someone will recognize the name and have some personal knowledge to expand upon the limited info there is on the web.

  • Haven't been on here in awhile..   Was hoping someone might assist with research.   The Horan family had relatives named Reidy/Roddy/Ruddy.  I have confirmed this with DNA results..   Hoping that might help track the correct Horans

    Thanks for any help
