Hi there

I visited Duagh last weekend and met up with some lovely friendly people who were very helpful in my quest to find my ancestors home place.  I then visisted the local cemetery.  However, I didnt find any Patrick McElligott who died in January 1904 age 103 years or his wife Johanna McElligott (nee Halpin) who I believe also died around that time..  I was just wondering if there is another graveyard around Duagh where they may have been buried. ???

  • Hi Doreen,

Did you visit St Brigid's to find out where she was buried?  My grandparents are in the Duagh graveyard, but at that time the family was too poor to buy a headstone for their grave, so their grave is unmarked.  If you google the Knockanure photo site on photobucket there is a graveyard album with numerous local graveyard photos.  I found a photo of my uncles' headstone in the Duagh cemetary on that site.

  • Hi Joanne

Thanks for your reply,  I had a look on the Knockanure photosite, but unfortunately did'nt find anything.  It s very possible that they are buried in an unmarked grave.  .  Anyway, I got some helpful  information via e-mail a local man about my family, so fingers crossed I will make a living connection very soon.

    Regards
