My ancestor Timothy Sullivan settled in Glencar around 1810. He was from Dromod parish and was of the branch of Sullivans that went by the nickname Feely, Fiely, na Feila, or any other variation. He married Mary Cofffey from Boheeshil, Knockane and they had at least four children.
I'd like to know more about the Feily Sullivans, where the name came from, what is their history. Why would have Timothy Sullivan left Dromod for Glencar?

Hi William,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information on the Feily Sullivans contacts you and helps you to further your research.
In the meantime it may be an idea to contact the local studies department in Kerry Library to see if they can give you any advice on where to find out about local history/names etc. Here is a link to their webpage:

Also, did you know that church records from Co. Kerry have been uploaded to http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ free of charge? You may be able to find something here.
Some other websites that you may find useful are:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
