Looking for Longs/Sheehans who lived in/near Castlemaine in early 1800s. My gg-grandmother Mary Long was from Castlemaine area. Not sure when she was born, but she was married to Daniel Sheehan c.1822. That records says she was from Cunnavoola. Their daughter, my g-grandmother was Abigail Sheehan, was born around 1833 in Ballytrasna (civil parish of Aglish). Abigial left when quite young, and ended up in St. Paul, Minnesota, married to Michael Sullivan (from Listowel area). Not much info on siblings except that it appears she may have had an older brother named Michael who did remain in the area. Also a sister named Johanna, born in Ballytrasna in 1841.

Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Firies begin in 1871 for baptisms and 1830 for marriages.
Other important sources include the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith?s Valuation. Even though these sources only record the head of the household, the information is very important and can be valuable:
