Have traced back to my third great grandparents (Patrick born before 1818) and Ellena Griffin). Their son (Thomas, born 1837 in Gortnaskehy, Killehenny) married Bridget Dee (born 1837 Ballybunion) in the USA in 1866. Family names also include Lynch. Just wondering if there is any hope of finding more information about Patrick and Ellena, or would records that far back be difficult or impossible to find.

KAM,
The RC parish of Ballybunion's baptism records begin in 1831, so you will not find baptism records for Patrick or Ellen. On Roots Ireland, I did find a baptism record for their daughter Catherine....21 Mar 1847, address "Aughafona", Ballybunion, only one sponsor given - Mary Scanlon.

Nice to know. Thank you for the information. 21 March is my birthday also. Kathleen my name. Lovely coincidence😀. Do you know if death records would be available for either Patrick and Ellena, and where in Ballybunion they might be buried?

KAM,
If they lived to 1871, there are civil death records available on irishgenealogy.ie under the civil records tab. The correct registration district to enter is Listowel. I have attached two records I found for Patrick and Ellen; however their town land shows Kilgarven. So unless they relocated, these are not your relations. Have a look...

Carolyn

If they died after 1863, you might find their death records at the free site irishgenealogy.ie.
