I appreciate all the amazing assistance I've been getting, particularly from Tralee Kerry.

I checked the Nenagh Guardian and even got assistance from someone on the editorial staff but to no avail. I wondered about that, anyway, since he died in Sneem,Kerry.

I also checked the Kerryman but this paper was started after the years in question. It's as though he fell off the face of the earth.

Perhaps,as you suggested, Tralee Kerr, he died of famine fever.

I plan to continue to find answers to his death and where he's buried but I guess it's going to be an ongoing mystery for now. Maureen Agnes

  • Jim Herlihy has done several books on the RIC and for a small fee can get you a copy of RIC record for an individual. Just google his name and RIC you wil get lots of hits one of which will be his RIC site with a contact email address. RIC records can contain dates of marriage, dates of discharge and dates of death - but it varies from record to record.

  • Thank you,Bob. I have my great great grandfather's RIC record. Cause of death is blank and the person who got me the copy said it was unusual to be left blank. I'm trying to find out how he died(I know when, and am fairly certain of where). I'd also like to know where he's buried. I may contact Mr. Herlihy for some pointers in where I may look. Thanks again. • Hi Maureen, I am so disappointed for you that this turned out to be a brick wall. I will keep you in my book and hopefully will come across some information at some stage. Thanks for reposting so that I found you easily near the top of the page. It would be great if Bob's suggestion turned up something.

The only other possibility I can think of is if you follow any of the Delahunty line who remained in Killea, Tipperary.

http://www.irelandxo.com/group/tipperary-tipperary is not active yet but you could post anyway and see if someone might pick it up there.

Since you know Thomas' parents names, you may find siblings and descendants there who may know the family story?

Sometimes when we go sideways we find what we are looking for.

I do hope you keep in touch and once again I am sorry that our searches found nothing as yet.
