  • Hi
Thank you for your message. Your information is most appreciated.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.
Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

Sorry for not answering you but new computer must think it is junk as just found this in there, so sorry

The family you gave me from the Census I have seen so many times

People in USA have this family

I am quite sure that the husband is the same family as MINE  I think he is John brother of my Thomas O'Connor

John b 1 July 1830 Keellea brother of Thomas b 30 April 1822 sons of TImothy Connor and Joanna Kevane [Clifford] so priest told me]

marriages too 2 Teahan women were in Ballyfinnane for both family's

John's Children all were born in Ardabourn ,Thomas's [mine] scattered between Ballyfinnane ,Knuckbrack Keeelea ,'Killentina .Camp

I also noticed as I came back into the web site and looked at my parish

Some how my O'Connors from Kerry have found their way to Balbrigan page in Co Dublin where my Fawkners are from

This has happened before and was corrected  Thank you for any microscopic evidance you can find

  • Dear Trish, I am still not clear what you you are looking for??

Generally when I am searching for living descendants, I go to the church records to find a child born nearest 1901 and look up the family in the 1901 census at that townland. Does this help at all?

  • Martine  What an I loooking for ?

I think that must be obvious

If I have two generations of my family on this web site ending in the late 1850 naturally I must be looking to find the children in the next generation so I can connect to the family I know of in New Zealand

If I had it all I would not be asking others

I added this family so long ago and you suggested you would try another search

You said try for family in 1900

How can I do that if I have no idea who each one married

My births came from Father Luke Roche of Castlemaine Parish and so far have only got to birth of Catherinr Connor b 26 March 1868 daughter of Thomas Connor and Elizabeth Teahan in Gurraun who married in NZ to James Richard Talbot from Co Kerry

So I know nothing about the next generation

I am desperate to find Catherine's brother Maurice b app 1845 from his marriage certificate in GIsborne New Zealand to Mary Josephine Courtney[Cournane] on 26 Jan 1881 where he states he is then 27

So far I have not found one Maurice Connor in Church Records of any date ,all the other children are there but not Maurice

Not one Maurise was born app 1845 and lived many years in ireland before going to New Zealand   Maurice was quite a common name for the Irish so you would think I might find at least one other MAurice Connor "O'Connor" He married Mary Francis Courtney b Caherciveen 1854

These children of Maurice and Mary Francis were in Wellington NZ  one daughter Elizabeth O;C married into the Aitken family,Thomas Courtney O'C married into Commerford family ,John Edward married in Sydney Australia unknown My grand mother Mary Josephine m Sydney George Hall in NZ but they lived in Sydney Australia

  • Dear Trish
While you may have no idea who each one married you can still search using the names you do know. There will be a large margin of error though, as you may not know when they married either. Your success will depend on the names involved and how individual they are. If as you say you have searched extensively for Maurice and haven't found him it may be that he is not included in the records; either they are lost, was never entered in the register or he was baptised in another parish and at a time that pre-dates parish records. I assume you have already looked in www.irishgenealogy.ie?

  • Thank you for your interest in my O'Connor[Connors]I now have one contact there in Co Kerry Maurice Connor also had a sister Catherine 26 March 1859

She set sail with Maurice to NZ There she married James Richard Talbot from CO Kerry

The connection is through Joe who is busy taking photo's of Kerry cemetery's But that is all he knows of these Connors and he did not have that till I saw his request on the Kerry list

Two of the children of Thadeus Connor and Joanna Kevane have Riordan as sponsor on their births Bridget b 31 Dec 1816 sponsor Charles Riordan and John b1 July 1830 sposor Patrick Riordan brother and sister of my Thomas Connor b 30 April 1822 Though some kind person in Co Kerry who rang Patrick Riordan who lives in Kerry This is what he said about this family

They were from Gortshovogh many year's ago near the old church[now gone] but move to around Ballyfinnane and Gurraun One of the living Connor family some year back asked Patrick did he know why his family when they die are all still buried in Ardcorn Cemetery.[sorry for spelling]

The Patrick Riordan still living is not the one above unless he is 200 but could be his grandson

I do hope this might bring me some luck with further family

  • Hi Trish

You have gathered quite a bit of information, congratulations! Might I suggest that at this point you consider hiring a researcher so that the finer points can be ironed out? The site listed below would be a good starting point:
