Margaret Hanlon Slattery

Unfortunately, I cannot give you that.  Only educated guesses.  I saw in the Kerry online RC records that an Hanora Slattery was born to Daniel Slattery and Margaret Hanlon in Ballysheen, Abbeydorney in 1837.  And then a John Slattery was born in 1840.  Because I know for sure that Daniel Slattery was from Ballysheen (and that his wife's name was Margaret), I then assumed this HAD to be my Daniel & Margaret Slattery.  How many  Daniel and Margaret Slatterys could there be in one small townland?  So that's why I think her maiden name is Hanlon.

I believe my g-grandfather (Dennis Slattery) was born earlier than 1837 (maybe 1835 ish), but the Abbeydorney records don't start until about 1837.  So Margaret and Daniel Slattery may well have had several children prior to Hanora--and even prior to Dennis.  But my best guess is that they were married in the early 1830s and possibly in Abbeydorney or Tralee RC parish.   I am assuming that Margaret's townland is somewhere in Abbeydorney or Tralee only b/c of the proximity.  But I was unable to find any baptismal records for her in either place.  I believe she was born around 1809. I don't know Daniel's birthdate, as I was never able to find him on any census info.  He left Ireland in 1844 to work in upstate NY and they lost contact around 1849.  He was never heard from again.

The reason I know this (and was lucky enough to find the townland) is from the Boston Piolet "Search For Missing Friends" database.  It was AMAZING. My g-grandfather Dennis had placed the Ad once he and his mother got established in the US.  If it weren't for that Ad I still be TOTALLY in the dark, only knowing that they were from Co. Kerry.

It's certainly possible, but I can't say for sure without more info.  It looks as though Mary Slattery (80) may have married someone who was a contemporary of Daniel Slattery (my gg-grandfather)--perhaps a younger brother of his?  The Daniel in the 1901 census (presumably her son) is quite a bit younger than my g-grandfather (Dennis), but certainly could have been a cousin.  I just don't have anythign other than last name and location to connect them.
