I am wondering if anyone has detailed family history information on the Sullivan family from Cuhig...  My great grandmother Bridget Sullivan was born in Cuhig on Feb 1, 1882 and immigrated to New York in 1900 where she worked at the Home for the Incurables for a few years in Fordham (the Bronx) and then moved to Butte, Montana and then spent most of her years in Genesee/Lewiston, Idaho. Her parents were John (or Jerry) Sullivan and Ellen Sullivan (or Helena... Ellen’s maiden name was Sullivan). Bridget's sister Honora "Nora" Sullivan was born July 8, 1883 and immigrated in 1903, and then married Jeremiah Harrington from Ughside, Ardgroom and stayed in Butte, Montana where her 90 year old daughter still lives. The youngest sister Julia was born on June 27, 1885 (or 1886) and also moved to New York around 1903 & worked for the Home for the Incurables and then to Butte, where she married John "Jack" Crowley (one of 8 children of Dan Crowley and Mary O'Shea of Glenbeg). We believe Bridget's father died in 1885 or 1886, 3 months after Julia was born. Bridget had a brother named Jack (Nell) O'Sullivan from Cuhig who was born 24 June 1877 and died (we think) 8 July 1964. Bridget also had a sister Catherine "Kate" who was born Feb 12, 1875 and who came to America but went back to Ireland.

Bridget had an Aunt Margaret Sullivan, from County Kerry (probably Cuhig) who was born on Apr. 20, 1860 and moved to America around June 1, 1884 and became a nun in Philadelphia and Albany, New York. Margaret's obituary said her parents were Jeremiah Sullivan and Mary Sheen and that they had 9 boys and 3 girls and Margaret was the 6th.

Bridget and her siblings also had an Uncle Eugene and Aunt Helena (maybe there were married??), possibly Eileen & Daniel. And we are not sure which side of the family they were on.

We are coming to Lauragh and Cuhig in June to meet the great grandchild of Jack O'Sullivan, and would love more details on the family history to share with her and the rest of our family. Also Bridget married Daniel Andrew Sullivan from Ardacluggin, Cork. Daniel’s father John S. Sullivan was born Dec. 6, 1846 and immigrated to America in May 1880 or May 1881. John S. Sullivan’s parents were John Sullivan and Mary Sullivan (maiden name, we think, was also Sullivan).  John S. Sullivan’s wife was Mary Sullivan born June 5, 1847 (Mary's parents were John Sullivan and Mary McCarthy). We believe John O'Sullivan was from Cloherane, near Glanmore Lake, so maybe someone has details on this family as well? John O'Sullivan was a great pioneer in Idaho and was written about in a book. Would love to know more about his family.

Maybe someone knows more details on the Cuhig Sullivan family...   or the Cloherane O’Sullivans (Lake Glanmore)? Maybe someone knows who keeps the complete records of the Killmackillogue Cemetery?

Any insight you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!!
