Help with family mystery

I could not locate a civil marriage index record in the Kilrush registration district for a marriage between a male Glynn and a Mary McMahon. I could not locate a civil birth index record for a Harry or Henry Glynn in Kilrush in 1886-1888. I did locate a civil birth index record in 1886 for a Henry McMahon in Kilrush.. Not sure if this is your ancestor. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. Instructions below

 Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. . Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

Thank you so much, I too found Henry MMahon and thought this may be him as Harry is yet a derivitive of Henry. Will the certificate give the name of the mother and father or just the mother.? Do you know if my grandfather was born out of wedlock would the Catholic church baptize him?. I am still looking for my great grandmother. She last appears in the 1920 US federal census in New Jersey, Her husband dies in 1922 and she disappears. He is buried with his first wife...........strange family....thanks again. Denise

A birth certificate would normally show both parents but in your situation the record may only show Mary.

I would hope that Henry was baptized but who knows. The RC records for Kilrush are not online as far as I know. You may want to contact the church. http://www.kilrushparish.com

Thanks again. Have located Harry's draft record. He states his birthdate as Feb 6 1888. So the mystery continues. Mary supposedly emigrated in May of 1888 . Meaning she left her infant son in Ireland?....again thanks for your help. I will look into the resources you gave me. Denise

I am still trying to locate any of the Glynns who may be related to my Grandfather Harry. The family legemd is that his father died in a riding accident. My Grandfather stated in his draft records that he was born in Kilrush in 1888.If there are any Glynns in Kilrush who may know of this incident could you please let me know. My Grandfathers mother was Mary McMahon who emigrated in May of 1888. Apparently leaving her infant son. She married in Binghamton to a Charles Mable. My Grandfather Harry, emigrated in 1896 along with a relative Daniel McMahon. Again, thanks for any help solving this mystery.

I have just received the birth certificate for who I believe is my Grandfater Harry Glynn. Born Henry M"Mahon. Born Feb 14 1886, mother Mary McMahon of Burton street, Kirush. Present at the birth was Ellen McMahon of Malt house lane. Through the Clare library forum I may have found him living in Binghamton in 1900 with J Patrick McMahon and his family. There is a Daniel listed as son but believe him to be the brother of J Patrick. Also listed is Ellen McMahon, listed as mother of J Patrick. She is 60 and emigrated in 1892.Mary Harrys mother is living in Binghamton with her husband and children, but no Harry. I am surmising that Harry and Daniel emigrated together and then lived with Daniels family, perhaps cousins. J Patricks wife is Mary but she was born in 1860 and they were married in 1885, emigrating together in 1893. Will continue to look for Harry in later census. Any help as to who may have been in Kilrush when he was born would be appreciated. There were McMahons and Glynns listed on Burton street in the 1850's and McMahons in the 1911 census.
