    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked on Roots Ireland and did not find a record in Kilcock or in a parish close to Kilcock. However, Roots only has records for the RC church so if your ancestor was Church of Ireland or Presbyterian the records are not on Roots.

I looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilcokc civil parish and there were three Michael Rochfort records http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/kildare/kilcock.htm   I don't know if there were three Michael Rochforts or one with three land holdings. Possibly one of these Michaels had a connection to James.

You may want to consider an autosomal DNA test.

  • Roger, Coming to Ireland in September will be in Kildare. Thought find some info but if not have additional info on (GGF)James wife (GGM) Anne Kearney (b 1836 Ireland) from neighboring county. They were married in 1870 at Saint Joseph's in Albany New York father was (GGGF)Michael and mother (GGGM)Margeret ???. Michael died in Ireland and Margeret remarried Lawrence Gaynor who lived by Kearney family in County Derry. Maybe work on another branch with more info.

  • Roger,

    Rochfort Michael Boherboy Kilcock Kildare
    Rochfort Michael Branganstown Kilcock Kildare
Rochfort Michael Courtown Little Kilcock Kildare
    Rochfort Michael Kilcock Kilcock Kildare

From Griffith, thank you I will work on that

James departed from Galway? Does that mean he traveled to Irish Channel than to Liverpool for ships to North America. Could it be James departed from Galway on ship?

    Thanks for your assistance

  • Bob:

The ship may have left Liverpool and stopped in Galway before crossing the Atlantic.
