I have been trying to trace my Irish  family for some years and gather I have may have wrongly assumed they come from Naas, Just because my Great grandparents married there .

The facts I have, are that my great grandfather is George Patrick Stevens my great grand mother is Ellen Barragry they married in 1912 in Naas.

Georges father is George Joseph Stevens.His mother is not known to me for sure possibly Julia (Blackrath)???

.Ellens father is Patrick Barragry. Her mother is not known to me.

Witnesses at their marriage were, Hilde Fitzpatrick.     James Flanag??? of Walterstown.

I cannot quite make out their residence at time of marriage it reads something like Athywiva??

and the church possibly reads NEWBRIDGE?  Naas Kildare

My grandfather is John Edmund Stevens he married Kathleen Patricia Fitzpatrick in London in 1936.

Kathleens father is Stephen Fitzpatrick Mother is not known to me.

My Grandfather was born in Leeds in 1913 and passed away in 2000 . At the time of marriage they lived in St Pancras London and the following year they moved to Islington.Their son was born in London.

My grandmother was born aroundabout 1908 but I do not know where. She passed away in1960  

I would greatly appreciate any help to find my family past and present. Thanks for reading my message and for helping me if you can.

    I have a couple possible leads. There were very few Barragry records in the 1911 census but I found a Patrick Barragry and his daughter Ellen living in Moanoola townland in Co. Limerick. Possibly this is your Ellen.

    I also located an 1886 civil marriage index record for a George Joseph Stevens in the Naas registration district. One of the possible spouses was a Julia Beirns or Bernes. 

    Finally, I located an 1868 civil marriage index record for a Patrick Barragry in the Tipperary registration district which includes the area around Moanoola. Three possible spouse names are provided on the record below. You can get copies of the marriage records for around 4 euros each from the General Register Office. Let me know if you want to get copies and I can provide instructions.

    I also found something that might be of use and ties in with the marriage info Roger gave you above for George Joseph Stevens and Julia Beirns/Burns.  There is a census record for 1911 for Julia Stevens (52), her son George (23), her brothers Michael and John Beirns, 2 nephew Georgie and Christy Beirns and some servants.  She is listed as the head of the family and occupation is a master baker.  Well worth a look as the age of George puts his birth around 1888, 2 years after the marriage listed above by Roger.  They are living in Blackrath and Athgarvan, Kildare, which also ties in with the marriage details you have from 1912 - the details you couldn't quite read such as Julia Blackrath.  If you search the 1911 census for Julia Stevens in County Kildare you should find this record.

    I haven't been able to find Julia and George Stevens in 1901 but I did find the brother Michael Beirns with his wife, children and mother, all under the name Burnes.  So if you search 1901 for Michael Burnes in County Kildare you should find the correct record.

    If you could post a copy of the marriage cert for George and Ellen that would help to identify the church they married in and then you could contact the parish for a copy of the details which might confirm the parents.  From there you can narrow down the search and obtain more certs and confirm the correct records / people.

    Hope that helps a bit.  I'll keep looking to see what else I can find.
