I am interested in joining a genealogical society that would be related to the Ballycallan area or to the Kilkenny County as a whole. I live in the US though so am interested in a society that produces a newsletter, etc. since I can't attend meetings. Thank you.

I can’t see any Genealogical Society focused only on Co Kilkenny (probably too small an area to be viable), however there is a general one for the whole country, and it does have a newsletter for overseas members. See:
