Hi Roger,
I have been searching for brothers and sisters of Michael Tobin but as yet have not found anything.
I will be coming to Ireland in October and wondered if I should look at parish records in Callan?
Regards
Kathy
Kathy:
How about this record in Windgap RC parish? Windgap is the parish south of Callan.

Hi Roger,
I hope that you are well.
I visited Ireland and Windgap in November but didn't really find out anymore information.I thought that by visiting the church I might be able to find some information but as there was a wedding taking place I wasn't able to do so.
I have been searching through the baptism records and believe that I have found 2 more siblings of his. The last sibling was:

There are no more records of any more births after this and I am wondering if they stayed in Mealagh or if they moved elsewhere. Have you any suggestions where to look next please.
Thank you for all of your help.

My wife and I were also in Ireland from November 9-19. We were in Clare, Galway and Kerry.
I assume you found this record on the Callan or Windgap records. There is no Mealagh townland in Ireland but as you can see below there are three townlands in Kilkenny near Callan parish so I'm sure one of the three is the townland shown in the record.

Hi Roger,
I hope that you and your wife had a lovely time touring around Ireland in November and didn't come across too much mist.
Thank you for the above information.
I was wondering if although the record was found in the :
Windgap | Microfilm 05023 / 01http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000631967#page/105/mode/1up
If it would refer to Mealagh in Cork as my Father's family have always believed that there was a Cork connection or am I just completely going off the track?

I'm sure it is for Kilkenny and not Cork.

Good day:) This Michael Tobin is an interesting possibility. Birthdate, and location seem OK Problem is all I know is that he came over from Ireland as a young boy. Have no known siblings, and wife's name was given as a Mary Ellen Callaghan. BUt I have no BPM's to prove such. All I know for sure is he had at least one son; James Buchanan Tobin born ca 1862. Family lived in NYC and later Queens. James married Kate or Catherine Tobin ca 1885. Had many children:)
