Hi I am searching for my husbands great great grandfather, Thomas Power. info we have from family in Australia says he was born 30 August 1828. He married Emma Organ in 1860 in Grafton N.S.W.  A newspaper announcing the wedding said that his fathers name was David Power and he was a Timber Getter of Callan, County of Kilkenny. Would like to find some family to start our search. Also why he came to Australia, family stories said he was a convict.

If he was SENT to Australia we have found a Thomas Power tried 8 March 1847 Clonmel Court, Tipperary. This same Thomas was sent to Australia in 1849 aboard the convict ship "Havering".

Would like to find out if this is indeed our Thomas.

Interestingly Thomas and Emma had 13 children, 4 sons and the name David is nowhere to be seen, William, James Albert, Thomas and Herbert. Emma's father was named William.

hope someone can help

Fiona
