  • Hi there,

Could you please provide as much information as you know about your ancestors (such as dates, placenames, family names, etc.), as this will greatly increase your chances of getting a successful reply.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello, Sinead:

I am looking for the family of my Great Grandfather, Michael Walsh. Michael was baptized in Ring Parish in 1838. His Father was Patrick Walsh and his Mother Mary Pole (Paul?) and they lived in Upper Helvick. Patrick and Mary were married in Ring Parish in 1838. As far as I can tell Patrick, Mary and Michael emigrated to Liverpool, England. From there the trail goes cold until Michael shows up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada signing onto a ship. From there he shows up in Newfoundland marrying a Johanna Quinn of St. John's, Newfoundland in 1871 and having a number of children. Michael drowned in the Bay of Gibraltar in 1885. Not much to go on, but there it is. I have no verifiable trace of Patrick and Mary in Newfoundland and no sign of them together on emigranr ships. All the best, any help would be appreciated.
