I am the granddaughter of Daniel Boyhan son of the second husband of Isabella n?e Anderson and Daniel Boyhan. Isabella was married first to I believe  a cousin of Daniel, Luke Boyhan and had children with him. Then married Daniel after Luke died and continued to have more children. I am intererested in Isabellas family. Who were her parents and siblings and if she was born and raised in the same parish.

Any and all information on Boyhan and Anderson  would greatly be appreciated. Also the maiden names of other women in my family tree that may have come from this parish are:

MURPHY

CRONOGUE

MURTAGH

I find the women in my family the hardest to find out information online. Thanks again in advance for any information.

Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for Daniel and Isabella. Also, included are the 1901 and 1911 census records for three of Isabella's siblings each time one of her children was living with them. I assume her parents were deceased as of 1901. Further below are the marriage index records for her marriage to Owen and her marriage to Daniel. You can get a copy of the records by writing to the GRO www.groireland.ie   fill out their form and provide the quarter/year of marriage, registration district and the volume and page number. The 1882 record at a minimum should show her fathers name and where she was living in 1901. Each record costs around 4 euros.

  • So it looks like she married an Owen Boyhan not Luke. Maybe Owen and Daniel were brothers.

You are very helpful Roger. I enjoy seeing new information. Just wish I could travel right now to Ireland and research this there. Have a great day! Thank you.

  • Hi Peggy,

I have Boyhan's in my family and wonder if there is a connection (I'm sure there is).  I will send you an e-mail.

  • Peggy,

Here is a link to Griffith's Valuation, compiled for Westmeath in 1854.  Coole is in the civil parish of Mayne however I suggest a search in the surrounding areas as well.  The second link is to the map of civil parishes in Westmeath.
