My ancestors arrived in Brisbane Queensland Australia onboard the ship DORUNDA which sailed from London UK on 7 September 1887 arriving Brisbane on 3 November 1887 they we assisted passengers.
John MALONE 22 years married Shoemaker, read and write, Roman Catholic Born Kilkenny.

I have birth cert. of Anne Malone 10 August 1887,Birth Reg. District Kilmakevoge. Super. Reg. District Waterford, County Kilkenny. Father John Malone - shoemaker,address Mullinavatt, Mother Mary Malone former name McDonald..... I believe this to be my Grandmother, she called herself Florrie, on her Marriage certifacate she put down John Joseph Malone Father - Mother Mary Gannon, she was married in Brisbane Queensland in 1903. I have found a birth of John Malone 22 September 1864 - 0869, Kilmakevoge, Kilkenny - Father Martin Malone, Mother Margaret Cuddihy. - John Joseph Malone died in 1922 Queensland Father Martin Malone - Mother Margaret Cuddey, is this the same John Malone who arived on ship Dorunda.....glad for any help.

Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm Do you know their religion? Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.
Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin.
