I am searching for relations to my grandmother Johanna Brigid Collins born June 22, 1899 in (castlebanny) Thomastown, county Kilkenny. My Aunt Mary Mirecki (Francis) often communicated with relatives but never shared her contacts before she died. I know my Grandmother had a brother and several sisters and they immigrated to Wisconsin.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We do not have a parish liaison in Thomastown.
Johanna was actually born in 1894 or 1895 because she was 6 in the 1901 census and 17 in the 1911 census.

I checked the online Irish phone book https://www.eirphonebook.ie/# Make sure you use the Residential TAB. There is one Collins entry in the Thomastown area.

I can see Johanna’s sister Anastasia’s birth on 29.3.1879 in Castlebanny, from which I can tell you that the mother’s maiden name was Mary Walsh. Parents married around 1876, according to the 1911 census.

Note that Johanna had 8 siblings alive in 1911.

Hi my great grandmother was Mary Collins who was born in Kilkenny in and on a census i found for 1911 she is 1. From information I know a Johanna Collins was part of her family who moved to America after studying nursing in England. I have very little information regarding the family. Johanna seemed quiet a popular name in kilkenny back in this time so it may not be the same person. My Great Grandmother Mary was raised by her grandparents in kilkenny who was John Collins and Mary Walsh pronounced (Welsh) every time I try to find information regarding my great grandmother I hit a dead end.
