My great grandfather Thomas Pollard was born in Courtstown Tullaroan and made his way to Australia in the 1870s. He had a sister named Anastasia who married Michael Marshall at Tullaroan in 1896.

Anastasia and Michael had three children: Hanorah, Robert and John. Robert died in 1928 without marrying. I am not sure what became of Hanorah.

John Marshall of Kyle (Kyleballoughter?) married Katherine Coogan of Lisnalea in July 1935. I would love to know if they had children, and what became of them.

Likewise, if anyone could provide any information about Hanorah Marshall I would be most grateful.

regards

Leon Pollard

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Because of our privacy rules, we are not allowed to search for anyone who might be living. In addition the civil birth info at www.irishgenealogy.ie stops in 1915 due to the 100 year rule.

Civil marriage info is also on the same site and stops in 1940 (75 year rule for marriages). I did find a Nora Marshall marrying a John Fisher in 1927 in Naas Co. Kildare and the father's name of this Nora was Michael. This may be your Hanorah but not sure how you can confirm but at least it is a lead. You have to sign-in to see the record.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing perhaps a descendant of Hanorah has taken a DNA test and you will match.

  • Thanks for your prompt reply Roger.

I think that my best bet in finding out more about the Marshalls is to seek contact with a local Tullaroan person who may be aware of the family. If you know such a person I would be happy for you to pass on my contact details.
