Searching for parents of Martin Hennessy of Courtellan, born in 1819. His first wife was Julia Cleary. He came to America about 1868 and probably married there his second wife Mary (?Farley). His children Thomas, William, Martha, Martin, Kate, Michael, Mary and Patrick were all born in Ireland from about 1847 to 1866. Martin settled in Vermont.
I would like to contact anyone researching Hennessy in this area, and would appreciate advice as to which Catholic church they may have attended when living in Courlellan.

Hi Carole,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone researching the Hennessey?s makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.
Have you tried looking in church records for information on Martin?s parents? Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. Ullard belongs to Graignamanagh parish. To see what records are available there follow this link:
It may also be an idea to contact the local parish priest for some advice on what church the family most likely attended. Here is the contact information.
