I am hoping to find some Robinsons whose ancestors have been in Carrigallen for many generations. My 3rd great grandfather James Robinson was born in New York state about 1780. I do not know the names of his parents, or when his ancestors went to North America. A professional researcher analyzed the Y-DNA reults of two of my Robinson male cousins, and, based on the ancestral surnames (Darcy, Corrigan, McCann, Donohoe, etc) of their DNA matches, he concluded that my Robinson ancestors came from the borderland area of counties Cavan, Longford and Leitrim. If I succeed in finding any Robinson descendants in this area, I will offer to pay for Y-DNA tests for several of them to see if they match with my cousins.

Welcome back!
Hopefully, someone with Robinson connections will see your message and post a comment. There was only one Robinson family in the 1901 census in Carrigallen parish. http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Leitrim/Killygar/Longfield…
By 1911, I don't see this family in Carrigallen but there were 50 Robinsons in total in Co. Leitrim.

Thanks so very much, Roger. I have also posted this message in bhe boards for Killashandra Parish in County Cavan and Killoe Parish in County Longford. I think that these three parishes cover the border area between Leitrim, Longford and Cavan where my Robinson ancestors supposedly came from.
Your comment about the census has given me the idea to reseach the 1901 and 1911 censuses for Robinson families in these three parishes and post a message on the Ireland board, asking for descendants of any Robinsons I find.

All three of your messages posted in Carrigallen, Killoe and Killashandra are on the main board so there would be no need to repost on the Ireland XO page.

Thanks, Roger. I added the names of the Robinsons in the three parishes in the 1901 and 1911 censuses to the message I just posted on the main board. I also found the missing family in Leitrim in the 1911 census for Cavan.
