Hello, I am trying to find more information on my ancestor Garret Cullen and his family who lived in the Manorhamilton area. There are not many records that I have found relating to them.
Garret Cullen lived on the farm named Aughavanny (Aghavanny) and died there on 24th June 1864 at the age of 56. He also appears in Griffith's Valuation as a tenant at Aghavanny.
His wife, Rose Cullen (née Leonard), died on 14th September 1903 at Aughavanny, at the age of 88.
Their children were Rose, James and Thomas. There are no records for Thomas, except that he appears as the informant on Garret Cullen's certificate of death.
I am searching for any information relating to this family, but especially for details relating to Garret Cullen and Thomas Cullen.
Thank you,
Caitriona

Hi Caitriona, I have Cullen ancestors from Gortnagrelly Sligo (Simon circa 1800, Patrick circa 1820, Catherine 1845, who married John McMorrow from Manorhamilton, but also had a farm near Glencar). Did you do a dna test by any chance? I am in touch with a descendant of Catherine’s sister Anna as well.

I, too, am researching the McMorrows, specifically Annie McMorrow, who may be from Manorhamilton, Cloonclare, Leitrim. Born around September 1854, parents James McMorrow and Bessie McDonough. She emigrated to The U.S. at about age 20.
