My great-great-grandmother was Mary Prior, her father Thomas Prior.  It is possible her mother was Margaret.  Thomas Prior and his children Farrell Prior and Mary Prior appear on a UK Census for the first time in 1851.  My research leads me to believe that they were from the Drumreilly Parish.  Also interested in a Buno Prior from the parish.  A Farrel Prior and Buno Prior both shown on the Tithe Applotment.

  • Anne: RC church records for Drumreilly parish do not start until 1867. Also, there are many Priors in the parish including 26 in the 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing. There were at least 8 Thomas Priors in the 1834 Tithes listings. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/leitrim/drumreilly.htm Without more information, I think it will be difficult to determine which townland your Priorts came from. • Thanks for your comments, Roger.  I'm not really looking for Thomas Prior.  More interested in Farrell Prior, his father.  There is only one Farrell Prior on the Tithe Applotment and on Griffiths Valuation and that's in Drumreilly parish.  As there is also another unusual first name of Buno in the family and there is a Buno Prior on the Tithe Applotment, I'm hopeful.  Buno does not appear if you search for him, but he is shown on the original pages.  I'll keep chipping away as always.  Thanks again for your help.
