I found a baptismal record in the Catholic Church Registers from the National Library of Ireland for a Jacobus Walsh.  It says his parents were Patrick Walsh and Bridgida Fox 7-26-1867.  There is a section that says Derrada (no godparents listed)

I believe that this may be James Welch who died October 1890 in Plainville CT, USA.  The death certificate says his parents were Patrick Welch and Bridget Fox.  I believe that James had brothers named  Patrick and John and a sister named Bridget.  Patrick (died in Plainville CT),  John (died in Plainville CT) and Bridget (died in Southington CT).  The death certificate all list their parents as Patrick Welch and Bridget Fox.  John and Bridget appear to be born in the 1860's and Patrick around 1853.  There is a wide gap so there may have been other brothers or sisters that remained in Ireland. Census reports vary with the ages.   I have found no indication that Patrick Walsh and Bridget Fox the parents ever left Ireland.

Obituaries were found in an old family scrapbook for Patrick Welch (died 2-11-1928 in Plainville CT) and Bridget (died 12-29-1940 in Southington CT).  I am trying to figure out just how these people tie into my family tree.  My mother's maiden name is Fox and my 2nd great grandmother is a Welch.  This family could tie into the Fox  line, Welch line or both lines.

Is there any record for a Patrick Walsh (Welch) marrying a Bridget Fox?  It would help if I knew who their parents were.   Are there any other birth records available (other than James) for their children?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Tim

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC parish register for Drumreilly Lower parish starts in 1867. Since James was baptized in 1867 and he had older siblings going back to 1853 or earlier than the marriage would have been in the early 1850s or possibly the 1840s prior to the availability of records. I did search on Roots in Leitrim from 1840-1860 just in case the marriage was in another parish but I got no record there also. The 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household lsiting for Drumreilly parish does show a Patrick Walsh in Derradda townland.http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/leitrim/drumreilly.htm

I would search the register to see if there are younger siblings to James.
