I would love to find out anything more I possible could before visiting Ireland. I would be so interested to find relatives whom I don't even know exist. I am visiting Ireland in just a couple of month's to kive out my deceaseed mother's dream of going to Ireland. She was unable to do so in her lifetime and I am completing her dream and want to leave no stone un tunred. Want to really find the area, explore and possibly meet realtives.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
There is an Arthur listed on the 1901 Census recorded as a tailor living in the town of Carrick-on-Shannon:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Leitrim/Carrick_on_Sha…
By 1911 it seems that his wife Mary is deceased, though all five of their children were still alive:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Leitrim/Carrick_on_Sha…
Their 'tailoring establishment' had six rooms, three front windows and a roof of slate. The property also included a turf shed, stable and workshop. If you are interested in finding out more it might be a good idea to see if Find My Past have any record in their Petty Sessions, dog licenses or commercial directories for example.
I did locate a civil death record for an Arthur Cole (an Army pensioner) and the informant on the death is recorded as his son Arthur 'Coles' of Carrickonshannon. Arthur Sr died on 18-Nov-1888 aged 80 putting his year of birth approx 1808 - I wonder if this is Anne's father, it would put him aged 40 or so an the time of his marriage to Ann Cooper.
They don't seem to appear in the 1931 Directory - there is only one Tailor listed, an M. Beirne:
http://www.from-ireland.net/trade-directory/leitrim/
This may be information you already have or if not might assist in identifying the area a little more
There is an Arthur listed here: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNam…
If you had the chance to come to the Valuation Office you could try to trace who stayed on the plot up to the 1950s/60s:

Hello from Carrick on Shannon
My name is Geraldine - sorry your name is not listed above. If you would like I could ask the local paper The Leitrim Observer to publis this article and see if anyone would be able to help you out with this. They would need a name and email address thought. Just a thought

Hello Geraldine,
My name is Colleen. Nice to meet you. That would be great. I am n search of any descendents of my ancestors who may still be living in the area. I am making my way to Ireland in just shy of 2 moths from now. I appreciate all and any help I can get. Searching my roots and living out my decesed mother's dream of going to Ireland. Wish I knew about all this local genology stuff when she was aroud and they informed me of the great sight. Thanks so much for doing this.
Is there a way I can private message you my email address??

Hello Clare,
Thanks for all the info and your time. I actually do not think the tailor Arthur is my relative. I actually found out they were from Kilboderry. Do you know where the Valuation office is located? I would love to come and see it when I make my trip to Ireland in just a few short months. Also, would you happen to know how I may be able to locate living descendents of my ancestors who may still be living in the area? Thanks for everthing.. This site is wonderful

Hi
The details re the Valuation Office are below:
http://www.valoff.ie/en/Archives_Genealogy_Public_Office/
You could also follow Geraldine's advice on finding living ancestors through the local paper. Once you have a townland and a name from the Valuation Office you will be able to see who held the plot (and is probably still alive today). The online phone book may also help you:

Hello again (sorry your name is not listed)
I have spoken to one of the employees of the Leitrim Observer and he has contacted the Historical Society in Carrick also.
He said they will post your letter searching the Cole/Cooper family but they would need name and contact details. The do not need to publish your contact details but do need to have them to verify story.
If you could forward your name and contact details to frankie.smith@iconicnews.ie he will keep them private for you. Or you can post them here and I will pass them on to him.
If you have any futher information that can be added to the story that would be great. Like was Ann the only child who emigrated out of the 10. Do you have any more information on the remaining people in Ireland etc.
Thanking you
Geraldine
P.S. Anne I meant to say earlier that there are a few families of 'Coles' living in Carrick on Shannon now.

Hi Geraldine,
Thanks so much for doing this. I emailed Frankie. Could you do me a favor and either send me a link to the article if they post online or maybe purchase a copy and when I come to Ireland, I could meet you and get it and pay you back for the issue?
I let Frankie know that to the best of my knowledge only Anne and her sister Alice came to America.
Thanks so much... This means more then you will ever know..
