  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I had no success in locating a marriage record for Dominick and Mary or baptisms for any children. You may have to go on an information gathering exercise. The registers for the parish are available on the NLI site and you can have a look there to see what other Lynch families are listed in the parish on the basis that they may be related to yours.

I see that there are a few Lynch families listed for that parish on the Tithe Applotment Books for 1834 - it would be a good idea to keep a record of them as they might be useful. You could also compare with the Griffith's Valuation assuming not all of the extended family left Ireland.

  • Sorry about that I was adding the surname to the first name field in my search so couldn't locate the baptisms as a result! Unfortunately there seems to be only one marriage for a Domnick Lynch in Leitrim but not to a Smyth bride. The fact that earliest records don't begin until August 1826 for baptisms and  July 1832 for marriages is an obstacle here if they married prior to 1832. There doesn't seem to be a Domnick Lynch-Smyth marriage anywhere else in Ireland for that period.

You should keep an eye on the Early Birth and Marriage Index. It is a long shot but it is a source that is updated regularly so even if you don't find anything you can always go back and check the updated version.

  • To update this thread in case anyone else is seeking information on Dominick Lynch and Mary Smyth, we did find a marriage announcement in the Clare Journal dated June 14, 1821 announcing the marriage of Dominick Lynch of Carrabeg, Esq. to Louisa Mary, daughter of the late Major Charles Smyth of the city of Limerick Militia at the Cathedral of Tuam.  We have since also found the actual marriage record.   We have not found any further baptisms for the other children born in Ireland to Dominick and Louisa Mary.
