I have recently learned that the borders of County Leitrim, and County Roscommon changed at some point.
Is this true and when did this happen?
I am looking for Gilhulys/Gilhoolys in Ireland.
It is really important to realize these things as a search for Ancestors can be thrown off by them.

Diane:
I'm not aware of a Leitrim/Roscommon border change in the last 150 years at least. There was a Local Government Act of 1898 which changed some borders between Co. Mayo and Co. Roscommon around Ballaghadeereen. At the same time, about 15 townlands from Co. Galway near Kilbegnet parish moved to Co. Roscommon.

Thanks Roger.
Which Townlands in Galway became part of Roscommon 150 years ago?
