I assume you don't know the parents names? Roots Ireland had two records in 1873 in Co. Leitrim for Michael McManus. One was an illegitimate child and the other had parents Terence McManus and Mary Farrell. There were other records in years around 1873. Any other clues?

i don't have an accurate date of birth - just 1873- although I will get one in mid March when I travel to Worcester MA. I did find his parents names- Father : James Edward McManus 

                               Mother: Mary McHugh There is no parish or town of birth listed for James or Mary  I hope this is helpful

I could not find the family in the 1901 census in Tullynascreen
