Hi, We have our ancestors Cornelius O'Keefe death certificate, which said he was born in 1830 in Limerick. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1860. We think his father may be Arthur O'Keeffe and there is mention of Ballaghbehy and Abbeyfeale. We have been searching for a number of years online but seem to be stuck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We are from NZ  but are visiting Ireland next month. The O'Keeffe family here in NZ  were RC.

  • HI, thanks for your time, yes, I have a membership with roots, there are a few possibilities but nothing firm. Those two are the right time. But the parents names are very unfamiliar. Through the rest of the family they have used the Irish naming so I was expecting his Father to be Arthur. The other family names are Patrick, And Daniel. Griffiths has a Cornelius in Abbeyfeale but I can't see the details on roots.

  • It would be great if you could start just placing that information all over blogs and I am sure he would be found. As the world is connected and you do not actually need professional help in order to find him.

  • Hi there Veronica I may have some information that is useful to you. I live in Inglewood Taranaki and may have land info regarding Cornelius's sale and purchase agreement. On his death certificate did it say he died approx 1898?

    Cheers

  • Sorry did he pass away on 1890? He is buried in the cemetary just down the road and I currently own the land that was granted to him by the crown back in 1875 so I have all those documents if you're interested. Please reach out to me on ash.aiyer400@gmail.com if you want to connect. Cheers.
