Hiya all, looking for information on my great grandparents, Bartholomew Daly born around 1850 who married Mary Lawlor in 1882 in Limerick, I think. Also, John Bourke born around 1830 who married Kate Tierney in 1868 in Lurriga R.C. Church, Co. Limerick. It's possible that John Bourke may have had the surname spelling of Burke.

Bartholomew Daly and Mary Lawlor had the following children: Margaret (Peggy) Daly b. Feb., 10th 1889, Bartholomew Daly b. 1891, Daniel Daly b. 1893, My Grandmother, Anne Daly, (Bourke) born in 1895 in Kilcolman, Co. Limerick, Timothy Daly b. 1896, Joseph Daly b. 1898 and Kathleen Daly b. 1900. Most birth years are approximate to within a year or so.

John Bourke and Kate Tierney had the following children: Mary Bourke b. Dec., 1868, Catherine Bourke b. July, 1870, Michael Bourke b. Sept., 25th 1872, Ellen Bourke b. July, 1875, Bridget (Biddy) Bourke b. Feb., 28th, 1878, John Bourke b. Nov., 29th, 1879, Elizabeth Bourke b. May 18th, 1882 and my Grandfather, Arthur Bourke born in Breska, Clarina, Co. Limerick on July 28th, 1885. My Grandparents, in bold italics above, are buried in Clounanna Cemetery, Patrickswell, Co. Limerick. I'm pretty sure all of the children of John & Kate were born in Breska, Clarina, Co. Limerick.

My Grandparents had the following children between 1921 and 1934, births given in date order: Catherine Bourke (My Mother), John Bourke, Anne Bourke, Michael Bourke, Mary Bourke, Arthur (Art) Bourke, William (Bill) Bourke and Ellen Bourke, all born in Curraghbridge, Adare, Co. Limerick. (Arthur (Art) and William (Bill) were identical twins and John, Michael and Mary died as infants the oldest being Michael aged 8 years.... so sad thinking of how my grandparents must have felt at their losses at the time, it must be dreadful to lose a child.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.

Have you had a look at rootsireland.ie to see if there are any records listed there? It is a subscription site, but if you have Ancestry or Find My Past already, you can search the Catholic parish registers index and see the original images (where they exist) on registers.nli.ie.

Anyone born after 1864, will in theory, have a civil record of their birth/marriage/death and you can check these out for free at irishgenealogy.ie

    Best wishes

  • Hello!  Sorry can't be any help really but I visited Clounanna Cemetery a few months ago and I remember seeing Bourke graves.  I possibly have photos though because of problems with my computer I dont' have access to them at the moment.  You probably have photos already but let me know and I'll check through them.  I was looking for any of my Carmody or Moloney relatives who may have been buried there but drew a blank.
