Hi, I'm Bill Mangan from long island NY USA. My wife and I are planning a trip to Ireland this June where I'd like to find it more about my family. Maybe see if there's anyone still out there who is related to me. My father is James J Mangan. My parents visited the parish of athlacca back in the 80s and was unable to find much information. I don't know if this reaches anyone but if it does, I'd like to see if I can find any relatives.

Do you have any additonal details on your Mangan family - e.g. names of James' parents and dates etc ?
There are just over 230 Mangans listed on the Irish 1901 census listed in Co. Limerick, none in Athlacca although there could be some nearby.Edited : I found a Mangan household in 1901 at Ballinacurra townland with a widower William Mangan a shepherd and his daughter Mary. Ballinacurra townland in Athlacca civil parish which comprises 11 townlands including Athlacca North and Athlacca south.

Hi Bill,
Sometimes it is easier to work back.
Was your father born about 1937 in New York?

Yes my father is James Joseph Mangan, born in queens in 1937. He's currently 81 years old. His Parents were William Mangan and Florence Driscoll, both born in the US. William's father (my great grandfather) Patrick Mangan was born in Athlacca in 1876 and died in the U.S. in 1929. His father was William and his mother was Elizabeth Scully. Patrick's wife's name was Anne Harding.

Kilmallock is the main town and Athlacca is a small village/hamlet.
William Mangan Patricks father was in the 1901 census of Ireland, with his daughter Mary.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…How do I know this? well, the entry above Mary's happens to be my Great Uncle and my Great Aunt. 2 brothers married 2 sisters.
I remembered seeing it. Allso, Joseph Foley was from Rathcannon. My cousin lives there.
