I hope you can assist me in finding more information regarding my great grandmother Bridget Gorman.
According to her marriage certificate in NYC her parents were Patrick Gorman and Mary Whelan. I have found a birth/baptismal record on Roots Ireland for a Bridget Gorman with parents Patrick Gorman and Mary Whelan born 04 March 1875. Address listed is Doon, parish Cappagh, County Tipperary.
I have also found a marriage record for Patrick Gorman and Mary Whelan (again Roots Ireland)
Civil Marriage Record show Patrick of Doon, farmer age 31. His father is listed as
Patrick Gorman. Mary Whelan of Kilmoylar, farmers daughter age 21. Her father is listed as Timothy Whelan. The civil marriage record list County Tipperary. The witnesses were Michael Ryan and Catherine Whelan.
Church Marriage Record lists same witnesses but not father’s names etc and County Limerick is listed as place of marriage.
Again using Roots Ireland I have found the following children for Patrick Gorman and Mary Whelan
Mary 28 Dec 1873
Bridget 04 Mar 1875
Patrick 01 Oct 1876
Timothy 15 Oct 1878 died 28 Nov 1878
Timothy 07 Dec 1879
John 17 Nov 1882
I know that Bridget Gorman married John Walsh (born in County Tipperary - Roscrea Parish in 1875) in NYC in February 1900. I have not found when Bridget came to the states. I have no idea if the whole family emigrated or did Bridget come on her own?
I am still working on that I am hoping that someone can point me in the correct direction for the family.
Thank you for any assistance

Joanne:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Your Gorman family lived in a border area specifically Doon civil parish and I believe the townland is Doon South based on the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Doon civil parish which shows a Patrick Gorman (likely the grandfather of Bridget) living in Doon South http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/limerick/doon.htm
The civil record for Bridget's birth leads to some confusion because the registration district for that part of Co. Limerick is Tipperary (Registration districts can carry across two counties). Here is a copy of her civil birth record (you will have to sign-in to see the record which is the third record down) https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…
The registrar's district is Cappawhite not Cappagh which was an error on Roots Ireland.
I would look on Roots Ireland for the baptismal record for Patrick Gorman somewhere around 1840 in Doon parish. Once you have his mother's maiden name, you should be able to find siblings for Patrick.
