  • Those are common surnames in Limerick; do you have any first names?

Griffiths Valuation (free at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/) has Catherine Casey& John McCann in Cappagh & John Casey & Michael McCann in Doon.

Disappointingly, the 1851 Irish Census (free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/) has none of either name in Limerick.

The Tithe Applotments (free at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/) have Daniel & William Casey in Cappagh 1828 & Michael & Morgan Casey in Doon 1826

There is also a John McCann in Cappagh in 1828

  • Thank you so very much, ColCaff. Very kind and generous of you to share this information. Some of the names are definitely relatives, including the first (Thomas McCann and Johanna Quinn). One pairing I'm interested in is Michael Casey and Catherine McCann, likely around the 1840s as well. They likely would've been Cappamore and/or Doon, and Catholic. One question: When you write Cappagh, is that the same as Cappamore? Again, huge appreciation and best wishes! Finally, we recently visited Doon and saw that the old church is now a restaurant. We also strolled a cemetery to no avail. I assume there are other churches and cemeteries to explore there?

  • I'm not a Limerick expert so can't answer for sure re Cappagh & Cappamore except to say that Cappagh showed up in both Civil & R C parish lists but Cappaghmore didn't.
