According to the information taken from an old family Bible Patrick Mulcahy was born March 17, 1824 in a town in the Parish of Doon near Cappamore. Could someone please tell me what towns would have been in the Parish of Doon in 1824. I have a book by the historical society in Cappamore that indicates this parish was split at one time. This information would help me pin down where he was actally born. thank you. Beverly Lords bscottb@comcast.net

Doon :
A parish, in the Barony of Kilnamanagh Upper and in the Barony of Owneybeg but chiefly in Coonagh Co Limerick, Diocese of Emly and Cashel, and in the Counties of Tipperary and Limerick (border). In east of County Limerick close to the border of County Tipperary.
North Doon was in the Barony of Owenybeg,
South Doon was in the Barony of Coonagh,
and the Barony of Kilnamanagh is roughly the Tipperary part of the parish of Doon .I hope this may help .

Thank you immensely. This is helpful. If you can, please, list some towns or villages that are close to Cappamore that would have been in these parameters in the early 1800s. I hear that one is Dark Island. Is that right? I am trying to narrow down the village my great grandfather was born in before the famine. Beverly in Salt Lake city, Utah USA
