I have a note from Martin Madigan, P.P. dated 1987 from The Presbytery, Banogue, Co. Limerick.  Martin inquired with surrounding Parishes and found my great great grandfather, Richard Fitzgerald, born April 10, 1927 along with siblings John, William and Catherine.  The bapismal records showed the parents to be William Fitzgerald and Johanna Brown.  I have read that Richard along with 3 brothers and a sister came to US in 1856, coming through New York.  To find a little more on William and Johanna would be good.  I imagine it would be hard to go any farther back.  It would be nice to get an idea of life for this family at that time. If all their children left, then is there no one left in Ireland?  Did the parents die before 1856?    And then, there is Johanna's family!

    I looked on Roots Ireland and found a few other baptismal records: James 1824, Joh. 1826 and Joh. 1831. Don't know if the Joh. is for John or Johanna. FYI Johanna the mother was shown as Joh. Also, there was no separate record for John. Either there were two Johns in 1826 and 1831, two Johannas or one of each. I did not find the marriage record.

    Here is the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Dromin civil parish. There are a number of Fitzgeralds mostly in one of the Clogher townlands but no William so he was likely deceased.

    Here is a link to the parish register for Dromin RC    http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0862   Maybe you can determine if the 1826 and 1831 records were John or Johanna. Possibly the register shows Joh.
