Looking for the family of Carver's . John Carver was born in 1826 to William Carver and Honora Casey, in Limerick, no known other information on location however, have details on his family. John's father William Carver was born in abt 1785 in Limerick and died in 1850 in Limerick. He owned farms and was a mail coach driver. I posted under Effin as other family believe it was Effin but I have no verification on this.
William father was Thomas Carver. Thomas was born in Cork but moved to Limerick and had a dairy farm and died at age 71 but the years of birth and death are not known.
Okay John's parents had 11 known children of which seven we know emigrated in the spring of 1851 with their mother Honora after the death of her husband William in 1850. The children were all believed to have been born in Limerick. The children were John, bn 1826, Bridget, bn abt 1824 Eliza, Michael, bn abt 1843 Thomas, Hannah bn 1833 and Frank abt 1834. Four other daughters were listed as deceased and am not sure if they died in Ireland or the states but they died prior to 1889, not 1989, the date this information was recorded.Their names were Mary, Annie, Nora and Ellen.
Honora Casey was born in 1804 in Cork where she married William Carver according to my written information but moved to Limerick with William where the children were born and lived before emigrating. Any information would be greatly appreicated Thanks-Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Thanks again for your message.
Unfortunately, it may be difficult to find information without a more specific place of origin. Most Irish record sources- church records, land records, census records- are based on specific locations. Until you know a specific location within Ireland, preferably a parish or placename, it may be difficult to do anything more with these records.
There are some places where you can search online, however these websites do not have complete collections
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.
Have you tried looking into the family?s emigration? Sometimes more infomation can be found at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. You may be lucky and find a place name here. For information on US immigration records check http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. These do not contain any genealogical information but can sometimes be used to tie a person to a specific place. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Perhaps if any of the daughters died after 1864 you may be able to find a death certificate for them. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

I believe my Carvers were fromKilfinane and Ardpatrick parish and not Effin. Limerick diocese. I found four baptismal records for four of the children, who I believe are the correct family. Parents listed are Gulilemi Carver and Honora Casey. The childrens names and dates appear to match. So, the Effin must be wrong for the Carvers; however this couple's son, John, my gggrandfather married a Mary Casey, believed to be no relation to Honora but could be wrong on that too, anyway this Mary Casey was from Effin. They married in the states. What can I learn about this parish, what can anyone tell me about this parish of the baptismal records. I found records for Bridget, (Brigida), Thomas, Eliza ( Elizabetha), and Ellen, (Ellena). Thanks!
