Hi Eammon
I have had a check in the Land Revision Books for some information. You must be talking about Ballyorgan village? Here are the Cassidy and Bermingham/Birmingham properties listed. I suspect the first few are just small plots of land near the village or perhaps commonage that they had access to but no description is included. They follow the same ownership pattern as certain houses in the village. I have both earlier and later records if you can indicate which track you want me to follow. I have parish baptismal records up from 1853-1900 and a lot of the civil records are available up to about 1916. I also have some local contacts that would be more knowledgable about Ballyorgan than me who should be able to help us.

Hi Eammon
I just realised that the name is Cassidy, not Cahill. Apologies for that.I think I got mixed up when you said they lived opposite Cahill's. I went through my images again but I can't find a Cassidy house but there are some civil records giving their address as Ballyorgan so perhaps they lived in a house owned by somebody else, perhaps Berminghams?
It looks like a pair of Cassidy twins were born to Edward Cassidy and Catherine Bermingham on 13 Aug 1906 named Patrick Joseph and Mary Catherine. The record says that Edward was a carpenter.
Unfortunately I can't find any Cassidy in the census of Ballyorgan in 1911. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Limerick/Kilflyn/Bally…
Likewise with the 1901 Census: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Kilflyn/Bally…
On 27-Apr-1906 in County Offaly I can see a marriage with the right names.but the record does not say Kate was from Ballyorgan so probably not rhe correct one. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;
People would more probably go to England where work was plentiful than a distant Irish county. I think the Berminghams could have worked for the Castle Oliver estate so unless she was sent there in service or something.Regards

H i Tim, wow, that's a lot of work you've done, and much appreciated, thank you.
I must have had a senior moment when I mentioned they lived opposite Cahills
without saying that Cahills was in Belmont, Offaly. Doh!!!
My father was born in Ballyorgan and he did mention that he had a twin sister, but never mentioned her name. I have come to the conclusion that she may have been stillborn, but have no proof.
They must have moved from Ballyorgan to Belmount, perhaps due to Edwards occupation as
a carpenter. I did read about an Anthony (Tony) Cassidy who was the 'Last miller in Belmont'
so there are some Cassidy's in Belmont, perhaps relatives.
I will plow through all the information you have given me. Thanks once again.
Regards,
